EVENTS:

The Black River bandits, affiliated with the national Cowboy Fast Draw Association, hosts public tournaments every year. The next one, “Y’or A Daisy If Ya Do” Jackpot Shoot, will be held April 25 and 26, 2026, in the 4H Building at the Head of the Lakes Fairgrounds in Superior.

Registration Forms will be found on the CFDA website, or at the range in the 4H Building during the club practices.

A cowboy or cowgirl might be fast, but he or she MUST hit the target! Who will be the fastest? Yee-haw!

**The last Jackpot Shoot of 2025 was the Fall “Spook Shoot” Jackpot on October 25 & 26, 2025.

A great time was had by all participants and spectators Saturday & Sunday (October 25 & 26) at the 3rd Annual Black River Bandits 2025 “Spook Shoot” Cowboy Fast Draw Jackpot Contest here in Superior!! Awesome duels between shooters, delicious food, delightful stories exchanged, spooky decorations, lots of laughs…..
Our “Cowboy Fast Draw Family” is a fantastic bunch of people!

First Place (October 25) Saturday “NO X OUT” 21 OR 18 OR 15 Foot Distances Contest winners are: Women—Lightnin; Men—Dago. Fastest Shots were: Women—.575 Lightnin and Men—.371 Bark River Kid. First Place (October 26) Sunday “3X Last Man Standing” 15 Foot Distance winners are: Women—Picasso Jo; Men—Dago. Fastest Shots were: Women—.605 Picasso Jo and Men—.368 Bark River Kid. Both days were shot on approximately 24” diameter Ghost/Goblin Targets, which were donated by Freckles. There were special awards (Thumbs Up Lapel/Hat Pins) for hitting the thumbs on either hand on the targets. Also special awards for hitting the silver dollars clipped to a finger on the targets. To add a challenging factor to Saturday’s contest, some rounds were shot with most (but not all) of the lights off (lights turned on after last shot fired for safe unloading/reloading). Congratulations and thank you to these and all the awesome shooters and Range Workers for participating! Yippi-ki-yay!

Each shooter on Saturday wrote his or her name on a piece of paper which was dropped into a Trick-or-Treat Bucket and when drawn by the Announcer, chose an item from the X-Out Prize Table. On Sunday, as each shooter X-ed out of the 3X competition, he or she selected an item again from the X-Out Prize Table—these reward items were the BRB’s Thank You for participating, shooting his or her best, and being a good sport. The prizes, all donated by members & friends of the Black River Bandits, were numerous, varied, and fabulous.

The host club provided coffee all day and the hotdogs & buns for lunch. Continental breakfast items and the rest of the lunch was provided by the Black River Bandits individual members in a potluck buffet style, with a lunch donation taken for “Shoot for the Stars.”

Saturday’s Door Prize winner of a large jug of apple cider and a fresh, huge pumpkin was Mary Paulzine. Whitey won the Best Hot Dish of the Pot Luck Luncheon. Winners of the five Silent Auction Baskets were: Chili Cowboy, Lightnin, Mary “Beanie” Leach, and Picasso Jo. Lots of FUN!!

Our 2025 Fall “Spook Shoot” Jackpot Contest Sponsors were: Superior Shooters Supply, Guardian Gun Range and Training Facility, Holiday Station Stores, Presidents Bar & Liquor Store, Forest Zone Photography, Coney Island Deluxe, and Aces on 29th Restaurant. The Black River Bandits and their Jackpot Shoot particants and spectators thank these generous sponsors SO much for helping us put on this successful shoot! Please frequent as customers these wonderful establishments and tell them again how much Cowboy Fast Draw appreciates them!
